It’s a new year and I feel like I haven’t quite gotten back into being super productive yet after a very chill winter break. But we’re getting there. I really enjoyed putting together this video for you though. At the start of every year it is always so nice to do a full overview of the previous year. Compare the year to previous years. What changed? What went well? What didn’t? I can’t say that I’m an economics pro at all but, taking the time to sort through my different income streams and make as many observations as I can has always been really important to me and keeping my small business afloat. When I have noticed that certain income streams have started to dwindle I have introduced something new. And when some income streams have grown I have given them more attention. I hope that this video will inspire you to do the same sort of review of your small business. Or if you’re just getting started in surface design and illustration that this will give you some insight into different ways your creative business can make money.

I compare 2024 to previous years from 2023 - 2020 so you can see how my income changes as I adapt and try new things.
Overall I am very very proud of still being able to be a full time illustrator and surface designer after 15 years. I really love how my career looks at the moment but I’m always open to seeing what else I could try or do. Being a creative business owner has it’s challenges but I adore the freedom to choose and form the career to my liking. I feel like the luckiest person in the whole world!
